Overgamed

1. (Of an event, intellectual property or topic) Having been used as a theme for games to an excess. 2. (Of a person) Fatigued or bored after having played too much of a particular game, genre or system, or having done too much gaming in a short period of time.

An overgamed topic (antonym: undergamed) or setting has been explored in so many different ways by so many different games that it is difficult to get an original game out of it, or to put forth the originality of a game based on it. Trading in the Mediterranean, zombies, the great battles of World War II or the world of The Lord of the Rings are among overgamed themes.

Being overgamed, or gamed out, is a form of mental exhaustion that is prevalent among playtesters, game reviewers and convention attendees.

Overgamed and overplayed have different meanings.
