Shelf Wear

Light abrasions, usually white streaks, that appear over time along game box edges due to friction against the shelf, or neighboring boxes.
  • Shelf wear is caused by storage and affects mainly game boxes. Damage caused to game components by manipulation is called table wear.
  • Game Box sleeving is sometimes used to prevent shelf wear.
  • Book collectors use shelf wear to describe minor wear on books that haven’t yet been read.
  • Dishing can be a form of shelf wear.
